Unit Study Adventures
Grades K – 12
Memorial Day in America is a day when we take time to remember all of the people who have given their lives for American freedom. They gave up promising futures, families, hopes, and dreams — for all of us. Let’s use this day as an opportunity to honor them, remember them, and learn more about their sacrifices.
With the Memorial Day study, your family can focus on the meaning of this holiday by opening the children’s eyes to the liberties that they enjoy and showing them that these liberties have been protected at all costs. With this study, they will briefly learn about the history of the holiday, some of the wars that Americans have fought in, and ways that we can honor the great people who lost their lives defending our lives and liberty.
The Memorial Day unit study is special offering from the Unit Study Adventure series, designed to be a one-week study for grades K-12. The daily lesson plans have been written in two levels in this study:
Lower Level (elementary grades)
Upper Level (junior/senior high grades)
There are reading and writing assignments (Read and Discover), spelling and vocabulary words (Wise Words), biography studies, and projects for the whole family. Favorite books and Internet sites are included in the lesson plan as well as a large resource collection of Internet sites.
This wonderful study is non-consumable and can be used year after year and includes notebooking pages too!
*NOTE: Memorial Day is a limited-availability excerpt from Patriotic Holidays, a four-week study which devotes one week to the exploration of each of the American patriotic holidays:
